The App
Once I get the app there are a few blings to add.
a) the first tip I came across was that you can add a Default.png image to your Resources directory and it will automatically use that image during the loading time.
Supporting Documentation
a) Itunes connect is where you do the application adding. You can add all the documentation without uploading the app itself (you can do that later). Generally this is an ok process but I had several crashes of safari and a couple of time outs that mean I had to repeat the process 4 times until I got it completed.
b) You need a description of your app (write this out somewhere first and then paste it in). You need a 512x512 icon that must be identical to the 57x57 icon you used in your app. So make your 512x512 icon first and then scale it down to 57x57 (not the other way around otherwise the 512 icon looks awful).
c) You can include 5 screen shots. Once main one and 4 others. I use a screenshot that represents the game in play for the main one. And then use the other 4 to represent the help screen and then three representative screenshots. (I felt people want to try and get the best feel for the game they can). It seems that the screenshots are displayed in reverse order to the when you select them (??).
d) If you don't want to upload the app then and there you can click on an option to do it later
e) Watch out for localisation. I thought I would have a look at what it mean for English (I chose the main one to the Australian English) and I quickly realised it was just a repeat of the main section but for different groups. Then I had the painful realisation that there wasn't any way to delete the selection so I was forced to enter in the details again. Apple have messed up here as there doesn't seem to be any way to get rid of entries. So don't play around with it, only use it if you really mean it.
f) At the end of the process you get the option to "Submit Application". Which gave me a bit of a fright as I hadn't actually uploaded the app yet. And after 4 goes I was getting a little gun shy. So I hit the button hoping that this was the big "Submit Application" and then was releaved to see that it wasn't. Now I had a application entered that I can view, adjust and then upload the final app. I think they should change the name of that as it was a bit counter intuitive.
The process wasn't too painful but I was quite annoyed at a couple of crashes and the time out. The process was a bit rougher than Apple's usual polish but it wasn't too bad.
For some reason I am being reviewed by the New Zealand review team. Cannot seem to change it.
Finalising the App
You need to get the app ready to add to the store. You need to make a few changes to the developer settings to get it ready.
Firstly, follow the instructions for Distribution at the iPhone Developer Program. At the bottom of the are step by step instructions on what to do wrt Distribution certificates etc.
Have a look at the following cheat sheet. Invaluable.
